Frequently Asked Questions

This page allows you to learn more about Strategies For Growth. If you have a question that is not answered here, please email us at questions@strategiesforgrowth.biz.

To help you address specific, pressing human resource issues contact us 617-332-2277 and ask about our HR Hotline.

I have an urgent human resource issue, can you help me with some specific questions or do I need a huge project to work with you?
We offer clients flexibility in the way we work with them. Sometimes they have questions about a specific problem and need a quick response and we accommodate that need through our hourly consulting services. Clients of Strategies For Growth also benefit from an HR Hotline. This service provides them with immediate access to an expert and fast turnaround on critical business issues. When clients have more systemic problems that require customized solutions, we work on a project basis. If you have an urgent business issue, call us to discuss it and we can recommend the best way to proceed.

Can you handle all my Human Resource needs?
Our goal is to satisfy your Human Resource requirements, whatever they may be. Most of the time we can fulfill your requirements directly. When a highly specialized resource is needed, we draw from the expertise of our strategic alliances.

How do you charge for your services?
It depends on the service. A flat fee is charged for projects, based on a detailed proposal. When companies need ongoing human resource support, a monthly retainer is usually more cost-effective. Consulting on specific short-term problems may take only a few hours so that time is billed at an hourly rate.

We are a small company, can we really afford to have a human resource consultant?
Consider the cost of not having a human resource expert to help you manage your business. One misstep on federal or state employment laws can mean spending money on attorneys’ fees. Employee issues can distract you from growing your business, which can cost you money. Making the wrong hire and losing the wrong employee can cost you time and money. Our services were developed with small and midsized businesses in mind. Since we offer flexible ways to work together, most businesses can find an affordable solution to meet their goals.

Why do you say there is risk in having employees?
Employees add a new dimension to your business. With employees you must think about issues of fairness and equity, rewards and discipline, and growth and development. As an employer you are required to comply with numerous federal and state employment laws by having certain policies, practices and processes. Lack of compliance can have serious consequences—lawsuits, audits, loss of business—these can distract you from growing your company and impact your bottom line. Strategies For Growth helps you develop strategies and tools that minimize risk. Whether you need help assessing compliance risk, developing job descriptions, creating employee handbooks, establishing equitable compensation programs or any number of human resource issues, Strategies For Growth has a solution.

What kinds of companies have you worked with?
Our experience ranges from small startups with just a few people to Fortune 500 companies with thousands of employees. We have worked in manufacturing, high-tech, professional services, healthcare and telecommunications. Companies have been both public and privately held.

Do you work on-site or off-site?
We can work either way, the choice is driven by what is best for our clients.

We want help from a human resource consultant who understands our company and our unique challenges, how can you help us?
From our perspective, every business is unique. So we invest time in getting to know a client—their business, industry and company culture. Then we customize our services to meet each company’s specific needs. Clients also benefit from our 20 years of human resource experience in diverse industries and different sized companies, both public and privately held.

My company may need to downsize, do you only work with businesses that are growing?
While it is always a difficult decision, sometimes the best choice a company can make is to downsize and reduce expenses to get the company back on a growth track. We have extensive experience with downsizing and turnarounds.
